This is me cradling a jellyfish (my husband took this picture.) No, this is not an act of bravery--or idiocy depending on your point of view.
The jellyfish in the inland lakes of Palau's Rock Islands have no natural enemies. As they evolved over time they lost their stingers. This lake is filled with thousands of these pale orange critters. They're soft as velvet and completely harmless.

@Dimitrios: Yup. The camera is in an underwater housing.
Palau is definitively on my list of place to visit!

Great photo. I would not try this at home as the jellyfish off the coast of Virginia have a nasty sting.
